From the Director:
For the past 9 years, the library book budget has been only slowly increasing. In fact, with a new reduction expected, our budget for next year will be less than it was in 2007. Unfortunately, the demand has not decreased, with the public wanting e-books, downloadable and streaming materials in addition to traditional print formats. We are also responsible for creating a balanced collection, making sure we meet the diverse needs of our public. Therefore, we will no longer be able to purchase as many “Request for Purchase” items as we have been able to in the past. We do want to listen and respond to the needs of our public, but we will only be able to purchase twelve (12) items per year requested by any single patron. If a patron hold is not placed on the requested item, it will not be considered a priority and will probably not be ordered. As always, the library will always add only material that appropriately fits within our collection development policy.
