NOTICE OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BOARD PUBLIC HEARINGS

The Community Development Board of the City of Clearwater, Florida, will hold public hearings on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, beginning at 1:00 PM, in the City Council Chambers, in City Hall, 3rd floor, 112 South Osceola Ave, Clearwater, Florida, to consider the following requests:

1. 2. STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) PROGRAM

The City of Clearwater is expected to receive $499,545 for fiscal year 2014-2015 funding distributed through and operated under the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program. Eligible strategies are down payment and closing costs assistance for newly constructed homes, down payment and closing cost assistance for existing homes, owner occupied rehabilitation, multi-family housing and other activities included in its Local Housing Assistance Plan. A copy of the Local Housing Assistance Plan is available from the contact person identified below.

These funds will primarily be used to assist eligible homebuyers in the purchase of homes within the city limits of Clearwater. For current homeowners, rehabilitation assistance may be provided to assist with code deficiencies within their dwellings.

Preference will be given to persons with special needs as defined in section 393.063, Florida Statutes.

Assistance is available to households whose maximum income is at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI).

CONSOLIDATED ACTION PLAN SUMMARY

The overall goal of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development - Community Planning and Development programs are to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities principally for very-low to moderate income persons. The primary means toward this end is to extend and strengthen partnerships among all levels of government and the private sector, including for-profit and non-profit organizations, in the production and operation of affordable housing.

 The City of Clearwater proposes to fund the activities listed below with Community Development Block Grant Program Funds (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Program Funds (HOME), State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) and estimated program income.  Please note that funding for these and other projects not listed may increase or decrease based upon program income, prior period adjustments and/or final federal or state allocations. Due to these and other factors, the City reserves the right to add or delete projects.
