New Clearwater Police Chief To Be Sworn In Thursday Evening
Dan Slaughter will be sworn in as Clearwater's 13th chief of police on Thursday evening at a City Council meeting.
The 44-year-old current patrol commander will take over duties currently held by Chief Tony Holloway, who is leaving Clearwater to become the chief of police in St. Petersburg.
Slaughter has been with the department since October 1992. He will earn $123,000 in his new position.
Once Slaughter is sworn in, Holloway will serve in an advisory role as a special assistant to the city manager through Aug. 12.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 112 S. Osceola Ave., in the council chambers on the third floor.
