Clearwater Police Seek Public's Help In Identifying Robbery Suspect

(Video from store attached; still photo of suspect to follow)

Clearwater Police detectives are asking for the public's assistance in finding a suspect who stole video games from a Best Buy and then bowled over three employees as they tried to stop him.

The crime took place shortly before 9 p.m. Monday at the store, located at

21415 U.S. 19 N., which is at the corner of Drew Street.

The suspect picked a black camera case from one part of the store and then grabbed about 10 Xbox and PlayStation 3 video games which he then put in the case. He then tried to walk out of the store but was stopped by workers. After a brief conversation and an attempt to detain him, he ran out of the store and intentionally plowed into three employees as they tried to stop him.

One worker sustained a possible broken finger in the incident.

The stolen items were dropped as the suspect reached the parking area.

The video surveillance from the store has good images that should make the suspect recognizable to anyone who knows him. The part of him knocking down the workers on his way out is not depicted on the clip.

The suspect was described as a black male in his middle 20s, wearing a black t-shirt and long gray shorts. His t-shirt had a caricature of President Obama and the word "DOPE" written across the bottom of it.

Anyone with information on who the suspect is should call (727) 562-4242.
