Aging Well Center Offers Brain Health Seminars in October

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Clearwater Aging Well Center, 1501 N. Belcher Rd., will host University of South Florida clinical faculty and Morton Plant/Baycare Health System staff doctors for a Brain Health Series of discussions during the month of October. The events are free to the public.

Dr. Nancy Muscato, USF aural rehabilitation manager, will lead a Wednesday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m. seminar on the relationship between “Hearing and Your Mind,” including studies indicating a link between hearing ability and cognitive acuity in relation to aging. Auditory screenings follow at noon.

Lauri Wright, Ph.D., USF Public Health professor, will offer a Wednesday, Oct. 30, 11 a.m. talk on “The Mediterranean Diet and Your Mind.” She will discuss benefits for brain function in studies of those who follow this diet often referred to as the ‘gold standard for good health and longevity.’ A cooking demonstration with sampling follows the seminar.
