Gas Operations Manager Appointed to Florida Building Commission

Clearwater, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott announced eight appointments and one reappointment to the Florida Building Commission on Aug. 27, 2013. One of the nine seats will be filled by Clearwater Gas System’s Gas Operations Manager, Brian Langille.

Brian will fill a vacant seat and his appointed term began Aug. 27, 2013 and will end on June 30, 2017. “We are proud of Brian’s appointment and feel confident that his work ethic and knowledge will be a welcomed asset,” says Chuck Warrington, Managing Director.

Brian received a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida in 1997. In 2004 Brian obtained his Professional Engineering (PE) license and, in 2005 he earned his Certified Energy Manager (CEM) license. He’s a current member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Florida Engineering Society, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the Association of Energy Engineers. Brian also serves on the Florida Gas Utility Board of Directors and performs the role of Secretary for the Florida Municipal Natural Gas Association.

The Florida Building Commission is a 25-member technical body responsible for the development, maintenance and interpretation of the Florida Building Code through a consensus-building process. The Chair is appointed by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the Senate, and serves at the pleasure of the Governor. Other Commission members appointed by the Governor represent architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, insurance, public education, local governments, building and fire officials and persons with disabilities. The Commission also approves products for statewide acceptance and administers the Building Code Training Program.
